Roseann Carthen, of Palestine, Texas, joined her loving Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, the 23rd day of August 2023. At the time of her passing, Ms. Carthen was 72 years of age. She was born on the 20th day of September 1950 to parents Lloyd Carthen and Anna Lou Masters.
Ms. Carthen, affectionally known to her grandchildren as “Boo”, was a loving mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of her family before her own. Her heart was a haven for her children and grandchildren, providing them with unwavering support and a listening ear. Her love for her family was a testament to her selfless, strong-willed nature, and her generosity knew no bounds.
A faithful Christian, Ms. Carthen lived her faith every day, demonstrating the love and kindness that are the hallmarks of her belief. Her faith was a beacon for those around her, providing guidance and comfort to all who knew her.
Ms. Carthen had a deep love for all animals, but horses held a special place in her heart. Her passion for these majestic creatures was evident in the way she cared for and interacted with them. She also had a keen eye for antiques, spending countless hours scouring shops and markets for unique and interesting pieces to add to her collection. Her love for nature was reflected in her fondness for plants. She had a green thumb and took great joy in nurturing her plants, watching them grow and flourish under her care. In her quiet moments, she could often be found with a book in her hand, losing herself in the pages of a good story.
Ms. Carthen's life was a testament to the power of love, selflessness, and generosity. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and will be deeply missed. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories are Ms. Carthen’s children, Chris Haywood and wife Shannon, of Round Rock, Texas, Keri Martinez and husband Lee, of Georgetown, Texas, Kevin Haywood and wife Jamie, of Katy, Texas, and Corey Haywood and wife Jessica, of Baytown, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Ranette Vargas; brother, Rick Carthen; grandchildren, Matthew Haywood, Tracy Haywood, Madison Haywood, Ryan Dowdy, Cameron Dowdy, Alexis Martinez, Samuel Haywood, Ridley Haywood, Coralee Haywood, and Jacob Haywood; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
In Heaven, Ms. Carthen joins her parents Lloyd and Anna Lou Carthen.
