Sally Downie Munro

Sally Downie Munro, of Tyler, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on October 28, 1946, to the late James Paton and Eleanor Mitchell Paton, Mrs. Munro's life began in the picturesque town of Leven, Scotland where the rolling hills and her time on the farm shaped her early years. She carried the spirit of her homeland with her when she moved to the United States, a place she would come to call home while always cherishing her Scottish roots.

In her professional life before retiring, Mrs. Munro dedicated many years as the business office manager of several hospitals. Mrs. Munro's zest for life was apparent in her varied interests. She was an avid card player, finding joy in the camaraderie and challenge of the game and Chinese cuisine was a particular favorite of hers. The beach was a place of serenity for her and the sand beneath her feet brought her immense joy. Traveling was another of Mrs. Munro's passions, especially trips back to Scotland.

Animals held a special place in Mrs. Munro's heart, with dogs being her cherished companions. They were not just pets to her but members of her family. Her interest in genealogy was a testament to her deep appreciation for history and family.  Above all, Sally Munro was a loving and friendly soul, with an adventurous spirit that inspired those around her. She approached life with an open heart and great love she had for her family, including her devoted sister, Eleanor Robertson, and husband Pete, niece, Heather Jones and husband Stephen and her great-nephew, Ewan Jones. 

She is preceded in death by her parents James and Eleanor Paton and her husband James “Scottie” Munro.

Mrs. Munro’s wishes were to be cremated and brought back home to Scotland to be interred.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Munro’s honor may be made to Choice Hospice or to a local animal shelter.
