Sharon June Wilson Holliman began her journey of service on the 14th day of September 1948, in Little Rock, Arkansas, as the daughter of Marvin and Connie Allen Wilson, natives of Grant County’s Shiloh Community, while living at Mountain Home, Arkansas. Marvin was the first lineman hired by Allied Telephone Company. Her life’s work was completed on Saturday, the 30th day of September 2023, at the age of 75 after suffering dementia.
Sharon began public education after her father was transferred to Mount Ida, Arkansas and graduated as an honor student from Glenwood High School in 1966. She received the Bausch and Lomb Science Award from the faculty and was a popular student. Sharon attended the St. Vincent Nursing School in Little Rock and received her RN degree from Garland County Community College in Hot Springs. Her nursing career included hospital, surgical, and doctors’ private practices in Arkansas as well as Jacksonville and Palestine, Texas.
Her numerous relatives and friends will miss her pleasant demeanor and caring attitude. May God hold Sharon in His loving embrace throughout all eternity. Her life of service to others remains a lasting testament of a life well lived.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Connie Wilson and husbands Vernon Holliman in 2020 and David Brakefield in 2014.
Survivors include sons, Tracy Wilson of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Will Brakefield and wife Halie of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Leah Brakefield of Fort Myers, Florida; stepsons, Brandon Holliman, and Dustin Holliman and wife Kacie of Palestine, Texas; sister, Joyce Wilson Duncan of San Angelo, Texas; and brother, Roy Wilson of Sheridan, Arkansas. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Breanna Walden, Ezekiel Graham, Brandon “Treston” Holliman, Laurel Wilson, Natalee Brakefield, Mason Holliman, Emilee Brakefield, Avery Holliman, Vernon “Gage” Holliman, Makenzee Brakefield; great grandson, Azariah Graham among numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Marion Asbury and the staff of the Sarah Center of Legacy at Town Creek in Palestine, Texas, for their care and kindness.
Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family and share memories of Sharon from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Monday, the 9th day of October 2023, at Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service to celebrate Sharon’s life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, on Tuesday, the 10th day of October 2023 at Broyles Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Lumpkins officiating. Interment will follow in Broyles Chapel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brandon Holliman, Dustin Holliman, Marcus Cretsinger, Zeke Graham, and Treston Holliman.
Mason Holliman will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
