Shelley Pope

Shelley Lynn Pope, age 65, of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, the 24th day of November, 2019.  She was born on the 24th day of January, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Philbert Myers and Noreen Thornton Myers.

Mrs. Pope was a faithful Christian and member of the Lakeside Baptist Church in Slocum.  Her hobbies included collecting antiques and going to garage sales.  She was a talented artist and enjoyed helping animals; she could bird watch for hours.  Mrs. Pope centered her life on her family and had a way of making the holidays special for everyone.  She will be missed everyday but especially during the holidays.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Philbert and Noreen Myers.

Mrs. Pope is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jim Pope; daughters, Gina Wallace and husband Travis of Crockett, Michelle Fiala and Jameson Rogers of Elkhart; sons, John Pope and Shawn Pope, both of Elkhart; sister, Dawn Covahay; brother, Wesley Myers and wife Sue; 17 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Pope’s life will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Tuesday, the 3rd day of December, 2019, at Lakeside Baptist Church with Bro. Steve McCann officiating.

Cremation services for Shelley Lynn Pope are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
