Stanley Albert Gove, age 73, of Elkhart, departed this life for his home in Heaven on Wednesday, the 8th day of September 2021. Mr. Gove passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born on the 16th day of September 1947, in Gardner, Massachusetts, to parents Clare W. Gove and Ines Vittum Gove.
Mr. Gove was raised in a loving home as the middle child of two sisters. He joined the United States Navy after high school and served for over three years. Mr. Gove earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He later worked in management in the food service industry where he met numerous friends. Mr. Gove’s personality would be best described as a good-time Charlie. Throughout the years, he enjoyed dancing, shooting pool with his kids, and having a good time. He was a devoted family man and loved all kinds of pets and animals. His hobbies included riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, fishing, and hunting. He was also a movie enthusiast. Mr. Gove will be greatly missed and never replaced.
Mr. Gove is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debra Gove; daughters, Danielle Allison Whiddon and husband Rusty of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Kelley Shelane Aguila and husband T. J. of Grayslake, Illinois; son, Daniel Kelley Gove and wife Lori of Bryan, Texas; sisters, Jean Frye and Kelley Wellborn; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Clare and Ines Gove.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from eleven o’clock in the morning until the start of the service at Rhone Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service for Stanley Gove is to be conducted at twelve o’clock in the afternoon, on Sunday, the 12th day of September 2021 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Following the service, everyone is invited to attend a reception at the Gove’s residence.
The family will have a private inurnment at a later date.
