Terry Lynn Adams

Terry Lynn Adams, age 82, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, the 17th day of May 2023.  He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on the 21st day of October 1940, to parents Herbert Pershing Adams and Mary Elizabeth Brown Adams.  Mr. Adams lived a life of service dedicated to the Lord.

Mr. Adams was a 1963 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he received a degree in marketing.  He also graduated from Sunset School of Preaching and went on to be a minister for over 40 years.   Mr. Adams preached at Gray’s Chapel Church of Christ for the last 35 years, a congregation he dearly loved.

Growing up, he greatly enjoyed being in the great outdoors, specifically boating and fishing. His grandchildren captured his heart, and he always delighted in spending time with them.  Mr. Adams loved his furry animals, especially his beloved dog, Bud.  He also found pleasure in working on genealogy, watching Westerns, and cheering on his favorite football teams, the Dallas Cowboys, and Texas A&M.

Mr. Adams was a loving, kind, and compassionate individual.  He was dependable and he always focused on the Lord and living his life to the fullest in Christ.  He built a legacy of devotion and faith in Jesus Christ, and his memory will live on for generations to come. 

In Heaven, Mr. Adams joins his parents Herbert and Mary Adams, and his brother-in-law, Johnny Elfarr.

Mr. Adams was abundantly blessed with a large family and dearly loved by his wife, Kay Adams, of 45 years; sons, Randy Adams, Richard Adams and wife Taressa, Robert Adams, William Adams, Charles Adams and wife Brandi, and John Lively and wife Candis; daughter, Kaylyn Adams; sister, Carole Elfarr; and grandchildren, Ashley Adams, Jonah Willis, Amanda Adams, Katie Adams, Mary Henderson, Melanie Bullard, Cooper Adams, Cullen Adams, Hugh Adams, Hayden Adams, Hunter Adams, Shelbi Emory, Alexandria Fisher, Gage Lively, Lydia Lively, Tanna Adams, Jenna Fitzgerald, and Tristan Fitzgerald.  He also leaves behind his eight great-grandchildren with one on-the-way, and other family members and dear friends.    

Friends are invited to visit with the family and share memories of Mr. Adams from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 19th day of May 2023 at Rhone Funeral Home.

Funeral services to honor Mr. Adams’ life are to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 20th day of May 2023 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Dan Manuel and Danny Allison officiating the service.  Interment will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers during the service are Mr. Adams’ children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed towards St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
