Therel Dene “T.D.” Lunsford, age 73, of Palestine, Texas, was called home to live with his loving Lord and Savior on Tuesday, the 19th day of July 2022. T.D. passed away at home with his family by his side. He was born on the 3rd day of November 1948, in Childress, Texas, to parents Nathan Travis Lunsford and Edna Inell Conn Lunsford.
T.D. attended the Cowboy Church and dedicated his heart to the Lord many years ago. He was an all-around great guy with a quick wit and a humorous personality. His patriotism was vibrant; he loved this country and served in the United States Marine Corps before being honorably discharged.
Upon returning home from his time in the service, T.D. worked as a truck driver, driving many miles across the country. He truly loved driving “big rigs” and would even visit family along the way. T.D. was genuinely loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
He joins in Heaven his parents, Nathan and Edna Lunsford; wife, Peggy Attaway Lunsford; sister, Cynthia Wilburn; and his brother, Jerry Wayne Lunsford.
T.D. is survived by his daughters Jennifer Palmer and husband Sonny, Jackie Henson and fiancé Bobby McKelvey; bonus children, Aaron and Alyx Smith and family, David and Susan Shelton and family, and Duane and Kathy Shelton and family; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Kennedy and husband Jack, Anita Jones, Crystal Shelton and husband David, April Lunsford; brothers, Bruce Lunsford and wife Becky, Larry Lunsford and wife Charree, and Richard Lunsford. He also leaves behind his special aunt who helped raise him, Hazel Lunsford “Aunt Jo”, special friend Robbie Robinson, his dog Tinker, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service to honor T.D. Lunsford’s life and military service is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 24th day of July 2022 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Bro. Mark Norman will officiate and Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps and the East Texas Patriot Guard Riders.
