Valerie Jean Grant, age 74, of Elkhart, Texas, joined her beloved husband Butch in Heaven on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Valerie was born on August 16, 1951, in Fontana, California to parents Jack and Milred Claus. She was known as everyone’s “Nanny” and will be greatly missed by all.
A true social butterfly, Nanny never met a stranger; to know her was to love her instantly. She was blessed with a beautiful soul that radiated warmth, a light that shone even brighter after she was saved and dedicated her life to her faith. Nanny lived her life as a song, always sharing her gift with those around her. She truly had the voice of an angel.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, William Butch Grant; parents Jack and Millie; little brother, Darron Claus; granddaughter, Valerie and great granddaughter, Kaizen.
Nanny leaves behind a legacy and tons of memories with her siblings, Lynn Peters, Mark and Aaron Claus; children, Iva, Tracy, Clint, Jayson, Greg, Robert, John, Ruthie, Anna, Ronald, and Raven. She also leaves behind her adored 25 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and still counting. Valerie helped raise many of her grandchildren and several foster children.
Graveside services to celebrate Valerie’s life are to be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on March 14, 2026, at Guiceland Cemetery with Bro. Larry Bowman and Ronald Grant officiating the service.
Honorary pallbearers include Greg, Robert, Ronald, John, Alex, and Billy Grant.
Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
