On February 12, 2022, Vance Leon Walters, 61, of Cayuga, Texas, left his cares, pain, and struggles of this life behind and entered his eternal home where sad good-byes never take place, sore, sick, and broken bones are healed, and the cold backed horses are a thing of the past. Vance was born on February 28, 1960, in Flagstaff, Arizona, to parents Tipton Walters and Irene Walters Passfield. Vance was an accomplished cowboy, rancher, and professional roper. He passed down his love for rodeo to his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Tipton Walters.
Vance is survived by his mother, Irene Passfield, of Show Low, Arizona; children, Jerett Walters, of Dallas, Texas, Lindsey Wallace and husband Sterling, of Justin, Texas, and Peyton Walters, of Justin, Texas; grandchildren, Raygon and Shea; sisters, Moreau Durkin and husband Marty, of Tubac, Arizona, Michelle Cox and husband David, of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, February 21, 2022, from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, at Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at ten o’clock in the morning in the Rhone Memorial Chapel, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas. Interment will follow at Roselawn Park in Palestine, Texas.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Guy Alford, Brett Brittain, Thomas Brockway, Joe James, Clay Kimball, and Terry Wynn. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Boston, Greg Chappell, Gerald Hitt, and Jimmy Mills.
