Wanda Jo Atkins McKay, of Deer Park, Texas, formerly of Palestine, gained her eternal reward in Heaven on Monday, the 5th day of November, 2018. She passed away at her home in Deer Park at the age of 87. Mrs. McKay was born on the 18th day of January, 1931 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Joeseph Atkins and Rachel Baccus Atkins. She was a college graduate and had an interesting career in data entry for INET. Mrs. McKay was a loving mother, grandmother and Mamaw and will be missed dearly.
Mrs. McKay is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phillip McKay; brothers, Lavell Atkins, Bobby Jo West and James Atkins; son, Rocky Wayne McKay; daughter, Patricia Suzanne McKay Alford; and granddaughters, Martina Oneida Rosprim and Stephanie McKay.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pamela Jo McKay Yoder of Michigan (daughter), Martina Lee McKay Pernell and husband John Ed of Elkhart (daughter), Phillip Scott McKay and wife Lesli of Palestine (son), Terri Diane McKay Arnold and husband Allan of Rusk (daughter), Kelly Anita McKay Land and husband Roy of Buffalo (daughter), Helen Kristina Lynn McKay Schales and husband Bill of Deer Park (daughter); son-in-law, Bruce Alford of Lake Jackson; grandchildren, Misty Manzel, Phillip McKay, Jamie Yoder, Jillian Yoder, Clint Alford, Kylie Schuelke, Casey Alford, David Alford, Robyn Collins, John Pernell, Lance Pernell, Robyn Jo Sharp, Allisha McKeithen, Jerrid McKay, Justin Rathjen, Brynn Tozer, Scylla Tomlinson, Chrissy Turnbull, Cody Land, Aimee Moore, Amanda Wagner, Taylor Schales Matheis; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Friends and family are cordially invited to a visitation with the family beginning at five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Saturday, the 10th day of November, 2018 in the Reflection Room and Parlor of Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service celebrating Wanda McKay’s life will be conducted at half past two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 11th day of November, 2018 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brad DuBose officiating. Interment will follow in Frankston City Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are John Ed Pernell, Scott McKay, J.T. Pernell, Clint Alford, Casey Alford and David Alford.
