Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, William Edward Pervis, of Elkhart, was called home to live with the angels in glory, on Monday, the 11th day of January 2021. Better known as “Bill”, passed away at U.T. East Texas in Tyler at the age of 74. He was born on the 21st day of July 1946, in Crockett, Texas to parents Eli and Celia Cornelia Zumwalt Pervis.
Bill served our great country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Sam Houston State University and worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in the transportation department for 35 years. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Huntsville and attended church at Cornerstone Worship Center Church of God in Palestine. He was a movie enthusiast which led to him being known as a movie trivia expert. Bill loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eli and Celia Pervis; wife, Mary Ann Martin Pervis; and grandson, Josh Dillard.
Bill was loved by many and will forever live in the hearts of his family and friends. Left to cherish the memories are his daughter, Tammy Dillard and husband Virgil of Elkhart; son, Kenneth Pervis of Elkhart; brothers, Clayton Pervis of Crockett, “Joe” Herman Pervis of Huntsville; grandchildren, Jeffrey Pervis, Megan Myers, Sierra Pervis, Alexis Pervis, Brandi Preston; and great-grandchildren, Bryce Meyers, Nathan Lomax, Wyatt Cotton, Cayson Barlow, Seth Brunson, Kacey Brunson, and one on the way. Bill is also survived by his beloved dog, Big Girl.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock, on Friday, the 15th day of January 2021 at Rhone Funeral Home.
A funeral service with Military Honors for Bill Pervis is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 16th day of January 2021, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Malone officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Virgil Dillard, Tommy Lassetter, Jeffery Pervis, and Jake Preston.
