William "Bill" Robert Watts

William Robert “Bill” Watts, age 74, of Palestine, Texas passed away at his home on Wednesday, the 24th day of June 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on the 24th day of November 1951, in Ft. Worth, Texas to parents George Harold Watts and Cleo Alice Belt Watts.

Known affectionately to family as “Big Daddy” or “Uncle Bill”, he was a man whose life was marked by service, integrity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard before beginning a distinguished career in law enforcement and corrections. Bill dedicated many years of service to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where he served as a Captain. Never one to slow down, he continued serving his community with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, where he remained employed until his passing.

He was a proud member of the Tyre Masonic Lodge 198, in Tennessee Colony, where he found lifelong friendships and opportunities to serve others. Bill was a Past Master and active Treasurer. He lived by the Masonic principles of brotherhood, integrity, charity, and service, values that were evident in the way he treated everyone he met.

Above all else, Bill's greatest accomplishment was the family he built alongside the love of his life, Linda. For 51 wonderful years, he centered his life around his wife and children, providing strength, guidance, and unconditional love. Following Linda's passing, he continued to cherish the family they created together, finding his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Bill was happiest outdoors and found fulfillment in the simple pleasures of country life. He enjoyed farming, working cattle, crafting custom knives, and spending countless hours in his shop, where his skilled hands could build or repair just about anything. Deer hunting was one of his favorite pastimes, offering him peace and treasured memories shared with family and friends.

Those who knew Bill admired his quiet confidence and steadfast outlook on life. He often believed there was little value in looking back with regret because every decision had led him to where he was meant to be. He was grateful for the life he lived, the family he loved, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife and soulmate, Linda Jane Potter Watts; parents, George and Cleo Watts; brother, Jerry Watts; and sister, Judy Watts Rawls.

He is survived by his devoted children, Randy Watts and wife Robyn, Stephanie Piper and husband Bradley; brother, John Watts; sister, Betsy Smith; and grandchildren, Brycen Piper, Reece Watts, Rylee Watts, Harrison Piper, Rowdy Watts, and Annie Piper.

Friends are invited to a visitation from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 1st day of July 2026 at Rhone Funeral Home.

Funeral services to honor the life of Bill Watts are to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 2nd day of July 2026 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Franklin officiating the service. Interment will follow in Tennessee Colony Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Teresa Cummins, Gerald Cummins, Garvin Cannon, Dale Stinson, Bobby Fears, Stephen Ham, Mike Smith, Ricky Davis, and Tony Oden.
