Our beloved “Bob” passed to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Bob was born in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Homer and Winnie White on July 1, 1944. He attended Palestine High School and graduated in 1962. From there, he joined the U. S. Navy, where he served as an Aviation Electronics Technician Third Class aboard the U. S. S. Intrepid and the U. S. S. America, the latter of which he was a plank owner. Bob served faithfully from 1962 to 1966.
After his time in the Navy, Bob married the love of his life, Lana. He went on to attend Henderson County Junior College, where he graduated as part of the class of 1969. He worked as the Chief Engineer at the radio station KNET before opening a business of his own, Hilltex Communications in Palestine.
Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palestine and served for many years in the music ministry at Trails to Christ Cowboy Church. Even into his retirement, he loved playing his bass guitar with his special friends in the Texas Express Gospel Band and performing at events for seniors.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years Lana (Todd) White; his daughter Samantha Anderson and her husband Robert; his grandchildren Catherine Velazco and her husband Jordan, Megan Hinson and her husband William, Elizabeth Anderson, Rachel Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Andrew Anderson, Emma Anderson, and Matthew Anderson; his great-grandson William Hinson IV; his sister Wincie Caskey and her husband Carl; and his many nieces and nephews.
He joins his loved ones that passed before him, including his parents Homer F. White and Winnie Mae Freeman White, his brother Cordell White, and his sister Arlene Smith.
He was loved by all who knew him for his kind and giving spirit. He was a loving husband, father, granddad, and great-granddad. He leaves behind many special friends.
The memorial service for Bob will be held in the Rhone Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, at one o’clock in the afternoon, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. A private family service will be held at the gravesite.
Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at Rhone Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Trails to Christ Church at 5858 Hwy. 79W Jacksonville, TX, 75766, or to a charity of your choosing.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jn 3:16
