Emen “Buddy” Hart, age 83, of Palestine, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, the 5th day of January, 2018. Buddy was born on the 10th day of August, 1934 in Oakwood, Texas to Emen Stanley Hart and Lena Mae Smith Hart. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1952. He then served in the United States Army. After returning from the service, Buddy attended Massey Business College and worked as a barber for many years. Buddy then retired from T.D.C.J.-Coffield, after 20 years of service. He was very active in the community. Buddy was involved with the Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Shriners, Baptist Builders Club and a member of the Gideon Organization. He was a faithful follower of the Lord and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Emen and Lena Hart and sisters, Lucille Welch, Louise Richmond and Wynell Kendall.
Buddy Hart is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carole Hart; daughter, Pam Oden and husband Tony of Palestine; son, Joe Stanley Hart of Angleton; grandson, Joshua Shellenbarger and wife Chanta and great grandson, Malcolm Shellenbarger.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from two o’clock until three o’clock on Sunday, the 7th day of January, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church in Palestine.
Funeral services for Emen “Buddy” Hart will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 7th day of January, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church with Bro. Sonny Guess and Bro. David English officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood City Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rob McClusky, Charlie Richardson, Joe Becton, Corkey Huffman, Marvin Rinehart and Chuck Lamberth.
